Since the NHL sucks, let's review some nice happenings in the hockey world, shall we?
- Today is the 25th anniversary of the Miracle on Ice — Back in 1980, a bunch of college kids (including several from my alma mater, Boston University) beat the mighty Soviets. They went on to win the Olympic gold medal by beating Finland.
- Thanks to BU sweeping UMass Boston and UMass Lowell sweeping the hated BC Eagles, my Ice Dogs have taken over second place in the Hockey East standings.
- Ray Bourque's son, Chris, seems to be coming on hot at the right time: He's been voted the Superskills Hockey Rookie of the Week.
- The Denver Pioneers are atop the USCHO.com/CSTV Division I Men's Poll (and BU has moved up a few notches).
Now, if only I could get NESN broadcasts of BU hockey games here in Denver...
