heh. i was sxe back in the early 90s. hell, i didn’t take a drink for 14 years.
broz, my ex used to live with ian’s sister in one of the dischord houses. mckaye doesn’t have (or want) disciples and has never been comfortable with the sxe scene. also, he drinks beer.
MacKaye was childhood friends with Hank Rollins, whose story of the first time they saw the Ramones in concert as young impressionable punks has them both solidly nailed to my “cool guys” list.
I’ll second the McKaye drinking beer bit. When a friend saw him drinking beer behind a venue that Fugazi played, he watched him slack-jawed. McKaye just looked at him and said something along the lines of, “What? I’m not drinking this to get drunk.” And speaking of Henry, check out the Rollins Talk is Cheap spoken word series, available here. He’s particularly funny in a Patton Oswalt stand up sort of way.

last night at work, ran into a girl who used to live out your way. we were talking about tats (she’s loaded with them) and she said she just moved back from denver. i asked where she got inked, big surprise in a small world, ding dong, it’s only th’ink tank.
her name is gillian and ben chase did her work. she used to waitress at the moontime bar and her ex-boyfriend is “big gay eric” who is (and here’s the tie in to the post) straight edge.
