Until/if they add a way to search for networks to join, this is probably just going to remain super-clicky. I can find no real way to network within Pownce. I am not impressed! It is pretty though.
Really what I want now is a social network aggregator. I have too many profiles to manage, but I actually do want to keep them (some social networking sites have value because they are niche-oriented, like the new one for cooks, or the one I joined recently for citizen science [ok, uber-niche!]).
