Music To Be Disgruntled To

And all-time favorite track of mine, “Ship Of Fool (Save Me From Tomorrow)” by World Party, came on the iPod today, and the lyrics just kind of hit me:

Avarice and greed are gonna drive you over the endless sea
They will leave you drifting in the shallows
Drowning in the oceans of history
Traveling the world, you’re in search of no good
But I’m sure you’ll build your Sodom like you knew you would
Using all the good people for your galley slaves
As your little boat struggles through the warning waves
But you don’t, pay

You will pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow
You’re gonna pay tomorrow

Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no
Oh, save me, save me from tomorrow
I don’t want to sail with this Ship of Fools, no, no

I’m guessing Brozo might get the connection.

I like to think that I was one of those good people being used as a galley slave. Upon further reflection I’m probably the one building Sodom like you knew I would.

Odd that you post those lyrics on the 1 month anniversery of my liberation.

Brozo…if you weren’t so old, I’d love to fill you in on the great opportunities available to you in the USMC: free food, no rent, cool clothes, free health insurance - you are likely to use…free ammo and shooting instructions. The list could go on for days…really. Jake, thanks for turning my ear to World Party. Brozo, best of luck on finding THE job.

world party was cool. being ancient relative to the main protagonists on this site, i actually saw karl w. perform w/ the waterboys (no shit). all good stuff. not much of a follow up on world party though….

mike scott’s still kickin’ it. not quite the same as it was, but what is, eh ?
