Weeds

McCollum: For smart comedy, find a way to watch Showtime’s ‘Weeds’

In its second season, which begins tonight at 10, the show really begins to dig into emotional and social issues, from single motherhood and suburban morality to parenting in the modern world and the culture wars. In its first, very good season, it only scratched the surface of such things. There’s a depth, a richness to the series now that was only suggested then.

I love this show, and enthusastically second the recommendation. The article has a recap of the first season, should you need it.

The whole “suburban wasteland” schtick got old the moment it started, but Weeds is so much more. I love the fact that it remains hysterical while causing the viewer to pose and ponder crazy questions inside their own head. Also, Kevin Nealon is yularious.

First ep was really good, just finished watching it. I can’t believe they got Elvis Costello to record the Ticky Tacky song!!!

Whoa, that “Elsewhere” widget is really cool. I don’t think I’d want everyone seeing that for all my comments though!

Haven’t seen ep 2 yet, but I gotta say… I missed the OG version of the Ticky Tacky song.
