Why is ice slippery?

Well, the old pressure-melt theory (for ice skates, in particular) appears to be wrong.

Surprisingly, nobody is really sure why ice is so dang slick.

    nah, ice nine was about the cascade effect of molecular change; a self propagating almost virus like effect at an atomic level.

    that and the futility of life.
